History

A daughter church of Stony Point Presbyterian Church on Southside, West End Presbyterian Church began in October of 1993, meeting in the chorus room of Byrd Middle School. Since then, West End Presbyterian has grown to a body of more than 600 worshipers on Sunday mornings.

In December of 2000, WEPC relocated to the former Best Products building on Quioccasin Road.

While we are a fairly young church, WEPC wholeheartedly embraces the historic Christian faith expressed in all the ecumenical creeds of the universal church (for example, the Apostles and Nicene Creeds).

We are also committed to the historic Presbyterian form of the Christian tradition, by its subscription to the Westminster Confession of Faith. WEPC is a member congregation of the Presbyterian Church in America, a denomination which is national in scope.

Twenty years after WEPC’s first worship service, Pastor Steve Shelby sat down for an interview. Click here to read his recollections from the first year of worship and how he decided to become a church planter.

Original members of the WEPC church-planting team, John and Joyce Minor, also shared stories and memories of WEPC during a 2013 interview, as WEPC celebrated its twentieth anniversary. Click here to listen to excerpts from that interview.
